Sales Tax Free Week
🗓️ SAVE THE DATE! 🗓️

This year's Sales Tax Free Week gets underway on Sunday, August 20 and continues through Saturday, August 26th. During this one-week sales tax holiday, retail purchases of most clothing and footwear items priced under $100 are exempt from the Connecticut sales and use tax. The exemption applies to each eligible item costing under $100 regardless of how many of those items are sold to a customer on the same invoice.

During the week, many retailers frequently choose to offer additional discounts of their own, resulting in even more savings for shoppers.

You can find a full list of individual items by CLICKING HERE!

Back-To-School Social Media Safety
The first day of school will be here before you know it! Parents should be aware of one simple social media safety tip before posting that back-to-school photo.
While I know this photo trend is fun to take and look back on, keeping your child's personal information at a minimum is important. By sharing your child's school, grade, teacher, and interests, you are giving predators unique information about your child and where they can find them.

Here are some reminders of what not to post:

Teacher's Name
School Name
Interests
Age
Weight
Height

I'm wishing you and your families a happy, healthy, and safe school year!

Increasing Bear Safety

Connecticut's black bears deserve a natural diet! Let's make sure they don't become food conditioned. Keep your trash secure and avoid feeding them.

My bear lock lid has been highly effective at keeping bears out for the last three years. They’ve even stopped coming by as frequently now that they know that - even if they throw it around - it’s just not a food source. If you have the means to pay the small extra fee, a bear lock lid can do a lot to reduce bear habituation and reduces the risk of human/bear conflict.
