HARC Leadership Award

April 20, 2016

I'm honored to have been selected as this year's recipient of HARC's Governmental Leadership award. HARC is an outstanding Hartford nonprofit organization that provides advocacy and support services for people with intellectual and related disabilities. In the past year I've been proud to support HARC's "Have a HARC" Day at the Capitol, as well as speak to participants in HARC's Self-Advocacy Group, which gives people with intellectual disabilities the tools they need to become effective advocates. Hearing from self-advocates is so important to legislators and the legislative process. HARC provides a wide range of services, from an early intervention program to supported employment services. You can learn more about available programs here. I'm honored to receive this award, and I will continue advocating for people with intellectual disabilities in my work in the legislature.
