The City of Norwalk has Mailed All Adjusted Motor Vehicle Tax Bills
The City of Norwalk announced that it has mailed out all the adjusted motor vehicle tax bills following a previous announcement that some taxpayers received inaccurate motor vehicle tax bills.

Affected taxpayers will receive a new bill indicating either that they:

  • Owe a balance because their motor vehicle was incorrectly under-assessed;
  • Overpaid their bill because their motor vehicle was incorrectly over-assessed.

If their bill indicates they owe a balance, they will have until October 10th to pay their bill without interest. They can pay by mail, in person at the Tax Collector’s Office at City Hall or online by clicking here.

If their bill indicates that they overpaid, the City will credit them on their July 2024 motor vehicle tax bill on the same vehicle. However, if they prefer to receive a refund instead of waiting for the 2024 credit, they will be able to do so. Those interested in a refund should send a completed Refund Application form to the Tax Collector's Office no later than November 30, 2023. For more information, please visit the City of Norwalk's website.

Anyone who may have any questions about their corrected motor vehicle tax bill should contact the Tax Collector's Office at (203) 854-7731. Anyone with questions about their motor vehicle assessment should contact the Assessor's Office at (203) 854-788
