Dear Neighbor,

Great news for our schools: $540,000 is going to the New London school district and $543,123 for the Groton School District to build and expand high-dosage tutoring through the Connecticut High-Dosage Tutoring Program. An estimated 432 students in New London and 864 in Groton will be served by these funds, which target students in grade 6-9 with a focus on enhancing mathematics

The investment in mathematics come as data from the State Department of Education shows that despite improvements, mathematics proficiency is still below pre-pandemic performance levels.

There’s nothing more important for our students than addressing the significant academic gaps resulting from the pandemic. Fortunately, we’ve started to see academic results improve. Though the work is far from over, these funds will go a long way toward continuing that trend.
