Rollin' with Nolan with Treasurer Russell and Comptroller Scanlon
In this edition of Rollin' with Nolan, I was joined by our State Treasurer, Treasurer Erick Russell. We talked about the Baby Bonds program his office rolled out - a program that invests in our youngest and is one of the most innovative plans in the country. I hope you'll check out the video below.
Watch our conversation here!
There's also an episode of the second conversation I had with Comptroller Sean Scanlon. In this episode, we discussed the Connecticut Municipal Employees Retirement System (CMERS). CMERS is a qualified defined benefit public pension plan that provides retirement, disability, survivor, and other benefits to all eligible members and their beneficiaries.

In the last five years, town's contribution rates to participate rose 75% - putting city councils and officials in a precarious position of having to choose between raising taxes or cutting services. But after meeting with labor and management leaders, Comptroller Scanlon spearheaded legislation to save communities money across the state. In fact, under these reforms, New London can save up to $950,000 in the next fiscal year and $28.6 million over 30 years - helping New London meet critical needs they otherwise would have struggled to.

Thank you again to Comptroller Scanlon for joining the show, and showing us how putting aside ego and partisan difference can make such a big difference in our community.

Learn more about CMERS here!
