CCSU Honors Waterbury Student Posthumously

June 1, 2025

I want to extend my heartfelt and deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Jayden Gonzalez, a bright and compassionate young man from Waterbury, who tragically lost his life in a car crash this past November. Jayden was just 22 years old, and he was on the verge of reaching an important milestone that he and his family had long dreamed of – graduating from college.

This week, in a moving and emotional moment, Central Connecticut State University posthumously honored Jayden with a certificate recognizing his academic achievement. Jayden was pursuing a degree in psychology and was set to graduate this May. The certificate, presented by the university's president, is a powerful tribute to Jayden's dedication, determination, and the life he was building. It is also a testament to the pride and love that surrounded him.

Jayden was a devoted son, brother, and cousin in a large-close knit family. He loved deeply and gave generously. Whether spending time with loved ones or encouraging others with his kind and steady presence, Jayden made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His warm heart and compassionate nature reflected the very best of what Waterbury's young people have to offer.

Jayden's story is a reminder of how precious life is and how deeply one life can touch so many others. Thank you to Jayden's family for sharing his light with the world. His memory will continue to inspire all of us to lift one another up, to pursue our goals with courage, and to live with heart.
