Updates from State Rep. Farley Santos for Dec. 12, 2025
December 12, 2025
The deadline to enroll in Connecticut’s official health and dental insurance marketplace, Access Health CT (AHCT), is fast approaching if you want coverage to begin on Jan. 1.
I've included important information on Access Health CT and where to go for answers to any questions you may have.
Important Enrollment Deadlines
Enroll by Dec. 15 for coverage that begins Jan. 1.
If you enroll between Dec. and Jan. 15, your coverage will begin Feb. 1.
Connecticut’s Open Enrollment Period began on Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 15. During this time, residents can shop, compare, and enroll in health or dental plans—or renew existing coverage.
Financial Help May Be Available
AHCT remains the only place where Connecticut residents can receive financial assistance to help pay for health insurance. While recent federal changes have adjusted who is eligible and how much help is available, many residents will still qualify. Some may also be eligible for no-cost options, such as the Covered CT Program or HUSKY Health (Medicaid/CHIP).

Becoming a Better Legislator
I spent last weekend learning, collaborating, and exchanging ideas with a bipartisan group of Latino legislators from across the country all focused on strengthening leadership, bridging divides, and building for economic success in every community we represent.
We tackled some of the most pressing issues of our time: the literacy crisis, supporting survivors of domestic violence, improving healthcare access, expanding bilingual education, and more. The presenters were outstanding, including experts who served in previous administrations like former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, the always thought-provoking Dr. Carlos Hipólito-Delgado, and so many other talented leaders who brought powerful insights and real-world experience to the table.
A huge thank you to the incredible staff at Board of Latino Legislative Leaders for putting together such a thoughtful and informative program. Opportunities like this help us bring home fresh ideas and proven solutions that truly make a difference through legislation.
And yes … I even found a little time to explore and enjoy some of the best that San Antonio, Texas, has to offer, and I may have brought a new Stetson home.
Always learning. Always advocating. Always working for Danbury.
Senior Center Celebration
We had a great afternoon visiting the Elmwood Hall - Danbury Senior Center annual holiday party. From the music and sweaters to the line dancing, the place was buzzing with holiday cheer.
A big thank you to Susan Tomaino and her team for creating such a fun, welcoming space for our seniors every day. If you’re a senior and haven’t stopped by yet, be sure to visit the Senior Center. You’ll feel right at home.
Holiday Lights Contest
There’s still time to sign up for The Danbury Holiday Lights Contest -- the deadline to enter is Dec. 14. Join the fun and help light up our city!
Kitty and I enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Governor’s Residence celebrating the season with a bipartisan group of colleagues from across Connecticut. Always grateful for the opportunity to come together in the spirit of public service. Thank you, Gov. Ned Lamont, for hosting a festive Holiday Reception!
Going (to the) CRAZIES
Happy to attend the Connecticut Restaurant Association’s CRAZIES Awards. Shoutout to all the nominees, and especially our very own Restaurateur of the Year, Esaul Rodriguez of Puerto Vallarta Restaurant in the 109th District. A truly well-deserved honor.
Thank you to Doug Polistena and the Amber Room Colonnade for hosting a fantastic night.
It’s a tough industry, but these talented restauranteurs, and so many others, keep our state going and our food scene strong.
An Epic Addition to Danbury
Mayor Roberto Alves announced this week that Epic Flight Academy is coming to Danbury's Municipal Airport.
This new investment further strengthens the airport’s role as a regional economic engine and opens the door to high-demand aviation careers for local residents.
Epic Flight Academy will start with approximately 2,000 square feet of instructional and office space, hiring an initial 10 employees and welcoming a first class of 30 students who will train to become professional pilots.
With the aviation industry experiencing a nationwide pilot shortage, Danbury is well-positioned to play an important role in developing the next generation of pilots while generating economic benefits for residents.
