Dear Neighbor,

As spring brings April showers and daffodils, the General Assembly winds up our committee work for the year. Judiciary is finished, and Appropriations and Finance are voting out their proposals.

The Judiciary Committee, on which I sit, completed our sessional work on Monday. We voted on a miscellany of bills, from claims against the state to new criminal penalties for damaging critical infrastructure. Another bill would take away the driver's license of anyone who fails to stop for a school bus. The committee met again Thursday to take up the nominations of new judges.

Like the rest of the state, and as an alumnus of UConn, shout out to both women's and men's basketball teams!

Passover began last evening. This day commemorates the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt and celebrates faith, resilience, and freedom. The Seder brings loved ones together to reflect on enduring traditions and the meaning of redemption.

Tomorrow, Christians will observe Good Friday, a solemn day remembering the crucifixion and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The week culminates on Easter Sunday, when Christians celebrate the resurrection, a message of hope, renewal, and new life.

These observances remind us of the enduring power of reflection and community in our shared world. To all who are celebrating, I wish you and your families a meaningful and peaceful holiday.

If you or someone you know requires assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at the Capitol at 1-800-842-1902 or email me at Bob.Godfrey@cga.ct.gov.

Sincerely,

Bob Godfrey
