Dear Neighbor,

WBDC's Ignite and Child Care Business Grant Programs
The Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) announced the next round of Ignite and Child Care Business Grant Programs.

The Ignite Grant Program is designed to help women-owned businesses grow. The program offers grants of up to $10,000 to women-owned businesses in the state of Connecticut who have been in business for 2 or more years and have revenues between $25K and $2 million. The application period for Ignite grants runs from August 5 through September 16, 2025. You can find additional information on Ignite here.   
 
The Child Care Business Opportunity Fund, offered in partnership with the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC), provides grants of up to $25,000 to qualified licensed and aspiring child care businesses. The program offers grants targeting different stages of business, from start-ups to those ready to expand. The application period for Child Care Business grants runs from August 1 through August 31, 2025. You can find more information on the Child Care Business Opportunity Fund grants here.
 
Information sessions for both grant programs are scheduled throughout the application periods. These sessions will help applicants understand the grant requirements and provide an opportunity for those interested to ask questions about the grants. Lion House Cafe Grand Opening
I had a blast stopping by the grand opening of the Lion House Cafe at 465 Bank Street City of New London, Connecticut. Delicious deserts, sandwiches, salads and a great variety of amazing drinks.
Congratulations to owners Chanmany Noi and Mark Ranasinghe. They also own Jasmine Thai Restaurant & Sushi Bar, Tuskers, and the Cinnamon Grill Restaurant all downtown restaurants on the same block. Thank you for investing in & helping New London grow.

Truman Street Block Party
Had a great opportunity to stop by the Truman Street Block Party last weekend. Thank you to the Staff and Leadership of OIC of New London County, Incorporated for all you do in the City of New London, Connecticut community. Appreciate you.
 

Pop Up & Praise 2
I was also able to stop by the great Pop Up Praise 2 event this downtown City of New London, Connecticut. Great time, music, fellowship kid games and food. Big thanks to Tim Allen & volunteers for putting together such a great downtown event.
 

Food Truck Festival

It was great to check our the City of New London, Connecticut food trucks festival. Had some great food from many of the food trucks, good music and met up with great friends and neighbors. Thank you to Neff Productions City of New London and the many volunteers that helped pull this event together.
 

Noche Latina

I had so much fun stopping by Noche Latina to see and meet the amazing amount of friends and families not only from City of New London, Connecticut but people I was able talk with that came throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. It was great to see such an enormous crowd have so much of a good time. Thank you to Taino Productions LLC, Ocean Beach and all those that helped bring the great fun, and exciting vibe to Ocean Beach Park.
