Dear Neighbor,
Thank You to the Veterans
This week, we came together with deep gratitude and respect to honor the men and women who have worn the uniform of our Armed Forces. Veterans Day is a time to recognize the tremendous sacrifice, resilience, and commitment that each of you has demonstrated in service to our country. I ask each of us to take a moment to reflect on what this day truly represents.

Our veterans are a testament to the strength and courage it takes to preserve freedom. They have faced challenges few can imagine, standing firm in the face of danger and enduring long days far from loved ones to protect our way of life. Whether it was during times of conflict or peace, each veteran has carried the weight of duty on their shoulders, with an unwavering dedication that deserves the highest honor.

We not only recognize those who served on the frontlines, but also the countless individuals who provided essential support, intelligence, medical aid, and guidance behind the scenes. We honor every branch of our military, knowing that each role played a part in safeguarding our nation. Veterans from all generations—from World War II to those who have served more recently—carry stories of courage and selflessness that remind us of the costs of our freedoms.

We must also remember that the journey of service does not end when a veteran returns home. Many face new challenges, from adjusting to civilian life to coping with the scars—visible and invisible—that remain. Let us honor their continued resilience by offering our support, our appreciation, and our commitment to ensure they have the resources and opportunities they deserve. Each of us has a role to play in honoring their service by building a nation that values and supports them.

To all veterans here in Connecticut, across the country, and abroad: thank you. Thank you for the courage, dedication, and strength you showed when you answered the call to serve. Thank you for the sacrifices, seen and unseen, that you have made on behalf of our nation. You remind us every day of the meaning of bravery and selflessness.

Let us never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy, knowing they were defended by heroes like you. May we honor you every day, striving to live up to the ideals you served to protect.
