Increased Minimum Wage On January 1, 2026, Connecticut’s minimum wage rises to $16.94 an hour — the second-highest in the nation.
We understand this still isn’t a true livable wage for many families. But it’s an important step forward — and it’s more than what most other states provide their workers.
This increase isn’t just dollars and cents. It means a little more help for parents and seniors.
Raising wages also means more money circulating in our local businesses and communities, boosting the economy from the ground up. When workers do better, communities do better. I look forward to continuing the fight to make it better. Connecticut is proving that we don’t settle for scraps — i look forward to continuing the fight for fairness, stability, and a future where work truly pays.

ALICE ReportLast week I stood with the Connecticut United Way of Southeastern Connecticut/ United Way of Connecticut as they launched the latest ALICE Report and the 2025 Policy Agenda at the State Capitol. I was proud to join colleagues, United Way leaders, community partners, and residents committed to tackling economic hardship in our state. The report paints a stark picture: a record number of Connecticut households are struggling to make ends meet. Nearly 40% of families live below the ALICE threshold—earning more than the federal poverty level but still not enough to cover life’s basic necessities. We cannot ignore this. We need to make this a priority in a special session and fully commit to closing the funding gaps that keep families trapped in financial instability. Every resident deserves a fair chance to live with stability and dignity, and I’m determined to do my part to make that a reality.

Keep the Connecticut Sun in Southeastern CT! The Connecticut Sun belongs in southeastern Connecticut — period. For 22 years, Mohegan Sun Arena has been their home, and no other city can match the loyalty, energy, and pride this community has poured into the team.
Relocation talk is a distraction. The WNBA has been clear: expansion is what’s coming, not moving existing teams. The Sun already has a home — and it’s right here in Southeastern CT.
If Connecticut wants to invest in women’s basketball, that investment should be in the community that has stood by the Sun since day one. Building a facility in Hartford for a few games a year makes no sense. Strengthen the team where they already shine. Build in Southeastern Connecticut. I stand with our fans and our community: the Connecticut Sun is southeastern Connecticut’s team, and I will fight to keep it that way.

Town Aid Road Program Growing Connecticut’s Town Aid Road (TAR) grant program is growing, with state support rising from $60 million under the previous state budget to $80 million in the current budget. This funding boost represents a 33% year-over-year increase that will directly support the cities and towns with the costs of local road paving, maintenance, and safety operations. It is the program’s largest investment in more than a decade, and helps towns repair roads faster, improve safety, and respond better to severe weather. |

CT Receives Credit Rating Upgrade Good news for Connecticut: Connecticut received notification from Moody’s and Fitch this week that both rating agencies are upgrading the state’s bond ratings.
Moody’s is upgrading Connecticut from Aa3 to Aa2. Fitch is upgrading the state from AA- to AA. These upgrades mark the seventh and eighth credit rating increases during the Lamont administration. Prior to that, the most recent General Obligation bond rating upgrade the state received was in 2001.
These ratings upgrades will result in even greater demand for state bonds, creating both immediate and long-term savings for taxpayers, while freeing up resources for Connecticut to make critical investments in programs and people. |
