Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations
This week we had a great time celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Day in the City of New London, Connecticut . Thank you to Bishop Watts - Shiloh New London & the Ministerial Alliance of Southeastern Connecticut for hosting such a great event.
As we recognize and honor Dr. King's legacy, it is important to remember that his work is not finished. We must continue to fight against injustice and inequality in all its forms. This means standing up for the rights of the people especially those of color, speaking out against discrimination, and actively working towards a more just and equitable society.
We must also hold our government accountable for making the necessary changes to address systemic racism and inequality. This requires voting, advocacy, and holding our elected officials responsible for addressing these issues. Dr. King's dream of equality and justice for all is not yet fully realized, and it is up to us to continue his work and keep his legacy alive. This is the greatest way to honor him and his contributions to our society.
Thank you to the Dr Martin Luther King Scholarship Trust Fund for the special service in honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. featuring the participation and talents of our 2023 Scholars. We had a great time gathering in-person at St. James Church for the service.
I had the great opportunity to also visit ST. John's church in Groton, CT to give reflections with colleagues and Leaders in Southeastern CT. We had great time explaining why we still need to dream & Why realizing the dream of peace, brotherhood and humanity is more important today than ever.
Thank you to Tamara Lanier & ST. John's Christian Church for putting together such a great program
