$4 Million To Revitalize West Main Street Corridor

June 25, 2025

I was proud to join Governor Ned Lamont to celebrate a transformative $4 million state investment in the revitalization of the West Main Street corridor. It's an essential artery in our community that is long overdue for attention. This funding marks a major milestone in our shared effort to modernize infrastructure, improve public safety, and enhance the quality of life for residents, commuters, and local businesses.

This investment will support significant upgrades to sidewalks, lighting, and roadways – paving the way for a safer, more accessible, and more attractive corridor for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

In conjunction with federal RAISE gran funding, this project will cover improvements to 4,440 linear feet of surface and underground infrastructure, including critical replacements of aging water lines, the sanitary sewer systems, and stormwater drainage.
These long-needed enhancements are just the beginning as we strengthen the backbone of our downtown area while make it business-ready to foster economic growth.

The project is also designed with sustainability by incorporating modern, energy-efficient technologies. We'll reduce the city's carbon footprint and drive down long-term maintenance and operational costs. This is an example of infrastructure building a greener future for the next generation.

The upgrades in West Main Street are an investment in the people of Waterbury, and I'm excited to see the transformation take shape.
