Opening Day for Roberto Clemente Youth League

The community celebrated the start of the baseball season for the Roberto Clemente Youth League! Opening Day was a hit with so many children, parents, and friends enjoying Opening Day at Tirado Park in the 75th District. We were all especially excited to see about 50 children playing competitive baseball for the first time!

This is the start of the second season for the Roberto Clemente Youth League, and organizers are eager to improve upon a very successful first season. We have 12 teams playing in a variety of divisions including Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Pee Wee Reese. This league will offer children and adults a wonderful opportunity to come together in a team setting and develop new skills.

Hats off to all the organizers for a wonderful Opening Day ceremony and a great season ahead! Make sure to come out with the family and watch the little ones learn teamwork, discipline, work ethic, and skills all while having fun!

Please Donate to Food Drive on Saturday

Please join my colleagues in the Waterbury Delegation this weekend and donate to a food drive that will benefit St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen & Pantry. Organizers request several items including rice, pasta, cooking oil, and instant mashed potatoes. St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen & Pantry prepares and distributes more than 45,000 bagged meals per year.

Location: Waterbury City Hall
Date: Saturday, May 17
Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Let's come together in the spirit of generosity and make a difference. Every contribution counts!

Support for Our Immigrant Community

I was honored to participate in an engaging conversation about supporting immigrant communities such as Waterbury. I joined the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) in emphasizing our commitment to support those seeking to address discrimination and to promote inclusivity in our city.

The timing is important because some immigrants are scared due to the uptick in activity from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). While these are scary times, I encourage every parent to keep sending their children to school, and if you are employed, to continue supporting your family by going to work. Thank you to everyone who attended our conversation, listened to our message, and asked questions.
