State Rep. Rochelle, TEAM Partner to Recruit Nonprofit Volunteers

March 18, 2020

State Representative Kara Rochelle (D – Ansonia/Derby) has partnered with TEAM inc. to recruit volunteers for several local nonprofits in the Lower Naugatuck Valley while families and businesses have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

I am pleased to partner with TEAM inc. to recruit volunteers for several local nonprofits in the Lower Naugatuck Valley while families and businesses have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Our nonprofits rely on help from older residents, who do so much for the people of our community. But right now, our seniors are among the most at risk population for having serious health consequences if they contract COVID-19. We need to look out for their health and safety and we must make sure our nonprofits stay afloat. I’m pleased to be working with David Morgan, President of Team, Inc., on this initiative to recruit volunteers to support our neighbors. No matter how difficult times are, the hallmark of our community is that the Valley shows up for each other. This time is no different.

While schools, gyms, movie theaters, bars and restaurants state-wide have been ordered to close until further notice, many of the Valley’s nonprofits remain operating to ensure those in need receive vital resources such as food, medical care, energy assistance, counseling, education services, and more.

The needs of nonprofits may vary in these uncertain times but building a database of available individuals will be an invaluable resource so volunteers can be plugged in with efforts if and when needed.

Individuals who would like to join efforts and volunteer for local nonprofits can fill out a questionnaire, available here. Interested volunteers can also email the form to Rep. Rochelle at Kara.Rochelle@cga.ct.gov or to TEAM at info2@teaminc.org.
