The Black & Puerto Rican Caucus works on Budget

March 29, 2017

In February, during a public forum at the State Capitol, our constituents brought their concerns to the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus (BPRC) about equitable changes to the ECS formula, youth violence prevention initiatives, criminal justice reform, health care, protecting the safety net infrastructure and the budget deficit.

There is a lot of work ahead of us, and with the state budget being the top priority, we find ourselves in an extremely challenging position. While we don’t have all the answers to all our concerns, I can say that as chair of the BPRC, I am working tirelessly with all my colleagues to ensure that our voices are heard and our concerns are taken into account when drafting the state budget.
