Connecticut Tobacco Free Youth Summit

November 18, 2019

Students with an interest in promoting tobacco free policies in their communities were invited to participate in the Summit and to lead interactive workshops and group activities throughout the day. Workshops focused on the dangers of vaping and flavored tobacco products and ways to impact in their communities by becoming effective advocates against tobacco use.

The day opened with a keynote address from Devin Mathis, Chief Development Officer of CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) in CT. State Representative Christopher Rosario spoke to students about legislative priorities related to access to tobacco products, companies marketing to appeal to youth, and the impact students can have by continuing to advocate to their local and state legislators.
