Cuts to Medicare Savings Program Delayed

December 11, 2017

The state Department of Social Services has announced it will delay changes to the Medicare Savings Program (MSP). Scheduled to implement income eligibility reductions beginning January 1st, DSS has put the plan on hold for at least two months.

The DSS action is in response to concerns raised by beneficiaries, advocates and legislators – allowing time for lawmakers and state officials to develop an acceptable resolution with reduced impact on those who rely on MSP. You can read more in this DSS press release.

If you or a loved one is potentially affected by the lower income eligibility levels, please call the CHOICES program at 800-994-8422 (or click here) for health insurance assistance provided by the state Department on Aging. A counselor can help you find additional health care plan options and other assistance that might be available. Don’t wait, call today to learn about your options.
