Reapportionment Committee to draw updated voting districts based on census data

Connecticut residents can now take advantage of a new notification app that will help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 throughout their communities.

In the coming days, small businesses and nonprofits impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to apply for a one-time $5,000 grant through the Connecticut CARES Small Business Grant Program.

"It is vital to provide our students with a safe learning environment to thrive in the 21st century, but also one that fits the needs of our community. I am grateful to see the governor and Connecticut General Assembly support this project so Mansfield leaders can build an energy efficient facility that will enhance the academic experience for students and school staff, while saving taxpayer dollars," said State Representative Gregg Haddad.

“Gabe, thank you for volunteering to help out your peers when so many of us were struggling in the adjustment to the norms of social distancing,” said Rep. Haddad. “As the state begins to reopen, it’s important to reflect on those in our community who took on more to help us through the crisis. Gabe’s efforts are deserving of this recognition.”

I wanted to take this week to reflect on the progress and achievements of previous nominees.

This week's honoree is Anne Rash of Mansfield, a member of Altrusa International of Northwestern Connecticut (AINC). Anne applied for grants to fund the purchasing of books for low income children in the Windham area, ultimately raising over $8,000.

This week's honorees are Carole Norrish and the crew from Altrusa International Inc.; the seamstresses of Friends of Ecole Agape; Bette Stern; and Dr. Martha Steinberg and her daughter Liz, all of whom have ties to Mansfield and have dedicated their spare time to making PPE.
