A local nonprofit that provides fresh food access is expanding its services once again this summer. The community came together for a special pop-up food distribution. Dozens of people received free eye care and left with much-needed glasses.

It gives me tremendous pride to announce that kids are playing ball in the Roberto Clemente Youth League in the south end of Waterbury for the first time in 47 years.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a federal and state holiday commemorating the end of slavery and honoring the incredible contributions the Black community. I was happy to support a couple of Juneteenth celebrations in Waterbury.

The extreme hot weather protocol will last five days for the year's first stretch of brutally hot weather. Our children's urgent crisis center has been up and running for one year in Waterbury.

I was in Hartford at the Latinas & Power Symposium to celebrate the first class in Connecticut to graduate from the Latinas in Leadership Institute. Waterbury Make Music Day will be held on Friday and promises to be a fun event full of music, dance, and great food. Performers will be singing at venues all over the city.

Waterbury is receiving nearly $3 million from the State Bond Commission to improve our quality of life and slowly transform our community.

Waterbury is receiving more than $9 million to improve air quality at several schools. And the city named its teacher of the year!
