With fall comes cooler weather, changing leaves, and a number of new laws hitting the books. Several measures passed during the 2025 legislative session will take effect on Wednesday, October 1. Click here for a brief overview of some of these important changes!

Great news! Governor Lamont recently announced a 33% increase in funding for Connecticut's Town Aid Road (TAR) grant program, with state support rising from $60 million to $80 million for FY26-27.

The TAR program supports all municipalities across our state with the costs of essential transportation-related needs, including road and bridge repair, snow plowing, tree trimming, traffic signal upgrades, public transit services, and more.

Public transportation and infrastructure are two of the most essential services provided by the government, and I'm excited to see this significant increase in funding.

Next Thursday, we remember the 2,996 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the thousands who have died since due to exposure to toxic chemicals, and the countless lives that were forever changed. May we never forget the people whose lives were stolen from us through this act of terror, and all of the first responders, construction crews, service members, and everyday citizens who saved lives and helped our country rebuild.

Though we move further away from that fateful day each year, we must continue to honor those Americans we lost and never stop the fight against terror and for peace.

This morning, the State Bond Commission approved over $2.25 million in funding for Montville and Norwich - you can read more about the projects below:

$250,000 for the Montville VFW, Post 10060, for renovations and associated upgrades
$200,000 to the Town of Montville for pavilion renovations and recreational field upgrades
$175,000 to the Town of Montville for upgrades and paving of the Montville pickleball court parking lot
$1.4 million to the Avalonia Land Conservancy for the purchase of the Bond Property in Montville
$100,000 to the Taftville VFW for renovations and upgrades of the flooring, lighting, and HVAC systems
$155,000 to the Taftville Fire Department for kitchen renovations

These funds will provide critical support that our veterans and firefighters deserve, upgrades to our infrastructure, and investments in the great recreational activities our community offers, and I'm proud they passed today!
