Waterbury Increased Funding from State Budget

May 6, 2026

As part of the state budget approved by both the House and Senate I am pleased to announce that the Waterbury Delegation secured $268 million dollars for our city, including nearly $28 million in new funds to support our schools and critical municipal services. Capitol leadership recognized Waterbury’s needs and partnered with us to ensure our city received the support it deserves.

The overall bipartisan budget package allocates $190 million in direct support for Connecticut public schools and $100 million to help mitigate local tax increases.

This investment will strengthen classroom instruction, support students and educators, and provide more stability for Waterbury Public Schools. It will also help the city maintain essential services, bolster public safety, improve infrastructure, and ease pressure on local taxpayers.

The funding reflects our strong commitment to prioritizing education and delivering essential assistance to municipalities facing fiscal challenges.
