I hope this message finds you well. Things have been quite busy in the Human Services Committee, which I have the honor of chairing. We have been diligently working on several important bills and measures that will impact our community.
Among the key issues we are addressing are police training and expanding access to prescription drugs—both critical matters that we are prioritizing in our efforts to create a safer and healthier environment for everyone.
As we approach St. Patrick’s Day, I would like to wish all those who celebrate a fun and safe holiday.
Please find the latest updates below. As always, feel free to reach out to my office at any time if you have questions or concerns.

H.B. 7202, Law Enforcement Training
The marriage of social work and law enforcement is more important now than ever. This week, I was proud to stand with police officers to advocate for bi-partisan legislation providing high-quality training for police in Connecticut.
H.B. 7202 will establish partnerships with local universities to create a new police training program. Police officers are frequently tasked with issues they have not been properly prepared for including mental health crisis, overdose response, and assisting unhoused people. This bill enhances efforts to blend policing with social work, ensuring that officers and social workers can partner to more effectively protect their neighborhoods and help those in crisis.
Don’t forget - you only need to register if you wish to provide testimony. If you want to observe the hearings, you can tune in and watch them live on the committee’s YouTube channel. Register to testify and learn more about this week’s schedule, including the bills that will be heard, in this week’s CGA Bulletin. 🌐 cga.ct.gov/asp/CGABulletin/Bulletin.asp
