Dear Neighbor,

While Republicans in Washington and now in Connecticut are attacking health care, especially Medicaid, Democrats including me are fighting for you. The House and Senate voted to fund an extra $284 million in the current state budget to ensure Connecticut's federally supported Medicaid health insurance program for 900,000 elderly, disabled, and low-income children was funded through this end of the fiscal year.

The governor did issue a declaration that was necessary to fund Medicaid for the remainder of the 2025 fiscal year that ends June 30.

This bill also includes a provision that saves money for EVERY EMPLOYER in the state since all of them faced skyrocketing workers’ compensation claims costs after a Connecticut  Supreme Court ruling. This makes workers’ compensation available and accessible while keeping costs down.

This legislation was a top priority of businesses and municipalities and saves them millions of dollars. Business advocates estimate workers’ compensation costs would have increased 265% absent any action.

I hope that my colleagues and I can build on this progress and continue to fight for you.

If you or someone you know requires assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at the Capitol at 1-800-842-1902 or email me at Bob.Godfrey@cga.ct.gov.

Sincerely,

Bob Godfrey
