As a member of the legislature’s Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, I want to bring to your attention a unique scholarship opportunity for college-bound Black and Latino school students.

Wilfred Johnson, also known as Spike, was the first African American elected to Connecticut’s State House of Representatives. He opened doors for all of the CT legislators of color who followed him, and we honor his memory by helping students of color achieve their goals.

We’re now accepting applications for the 2018 scholarship awards. All applications must be sent to by Monday, April 2.
