Several new laws in Connecticut went into effect on Saturday, October 1. These laws are a result of my colleagues' hard work during the 2022 session. From juvenile crime to children's mental health to fair rent, you can read more about the new laws that took effect and what they mean for you.

State Representative Kara Rochelle (D – Ansonia, Derby) applauds the approval of $6.5 million in state funds through Connecticut's Community Investment Fund 2030 (CIF) to repair an access bridge at the former Ansonia Copper & Brass industrial complex, 75 Liberty St, providing easier access to the site from the Naugatuck River.

The Connecticut Education Association (CEA) has released its Legislator Report Card for the 2021-2022 legislative cycle. The Report Card evaluates legislators' voting records and advocacy to support public education in Connecticut. For this year's cycle, CEA has placed me on its 2022 Honor Roll!

Today, I was pleased to join U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and my state and local colleagues to highlight $5 million in additional federal funding for the Route 34 widening project! This project is part of a larger revitalization initiative that will transform downtown Derby. A huge thank you goes to Senator Blumenthal and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro for securing this additional funding.

Nearly $230,000 in new relief funds will be coming to support local food and beverage establishments in Derby and Ansonia that were financially hit over the past few years due to COVID-19.

I hope this email finds you well. I have some good news to share! The State Bond Commission met on Friday to approve state bonding for numerous community initiatives across our state. Among the selected awards was nearly $1.35 million for Griffin Hospital to replace an emergency generator.

We are always working hard to improve our economy and rebound from the recent COVID-19-induced recession. We have weathered difficult economic times over the past few years and during the 2022 session, we passed legislation that takes steps to propel our economy forward.
