The Child Tax Credit in President Biden's American Rescue Plan helps hard-working families with the costs of raising children. Based on 2019 and 2020 tax returns, the IRS began issuing monthly child tax credits on July 15.

A reminder that as of July 1, 2021 single-use plastic bags will no longer be an option during checkout. The General Assembly enacted a plastic bag fee that went into effect on August 1, 2019 with the complete elimination of plastic bags in 2021. Some merchants may offer paper bags or reusable bags for a fee or free of charge depending on the individual stores. I encourage you to bring your reusable bags when shopping.

Starting today, July 1st, all children—plus one accompanying adult--will receive free admission to over 90 museums across Connecticut. This program will be offered through September 6th to all Connecticut children, ages 18 and under.

Thrilled to see new businesses thriving in Wethersfield. It is a good sign that much brighter days are ahead. The Charles is a wonderful addition to our community. Bryce and his staff were able to open a beautiful restaurant during the pandemic that serves delicious food and drinks.

I joined Governor Lamont at a press conference along with my colleague, State Rep. Kerry Wood and other state officials to discuss the positive impact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has made since the implementation of their online license renewal service earlier this year.

I am pleased to have supported the $46.4 billion biennial state budget approved by the House of Representatives and the State Senate, that includes a $2.3 billion surplus which is expected to help jumpstart the economy, provide support for nonprofits, protect working families and invest in cities and towns, without new taxes.

I am grateful for the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and remember them this Memorial Day.
