Phase 3 Reopening Update

July 8, 2020

Although Connecticut has done a great job containing the COVID virus, cases are spiking in other parts of the country that have eased quarantine restrictions. As a precaution, Governor Lamont announced that Phase 3 of reopening, which was expected to roll out on July 20th, has been delayed indefinitely.

While the state's numbers continue a steady decline, leaders are looking at what's happening in the rest of the country as an indicator of a potential setback.
As you may know, we have taken measures to quarantine visitors from other states for two weeks upon arriving in Connecticut hoping to help keep our numbers down. Residents' compliance with wearing masks in public as well as other public safety measures have also helped our overall results.

In recent weeks, eateries and bars with licenses to serve food have been allowed to host customers indoors and outdoors with several restrictions, including proper spacing between tables and patrons and plexiglass shields for bartenders. Please continue to support them in any way you can.

Many of us are anxious to move forward, but I believe the safety of workers and customers is a priority and I support taking a more conservative approach to Phase 3 reopening.

I will keep you updated as we get more information. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. And please continue to wear your mask in public when you can't keep social distance.

I wear mine in public as a consideration to you - to help keep you safe. I hope you are doing the same for all of us in our community.

Be sure to wear it properly, keep it clean and wash your hands often with soap and water.  I know that we will get through this together!
