During a ceremony in the Connecticut House of Representatives chamber on Tuesday, Corey P. Paris was officially sworn in as state representative for the 145th Assembly District, which is wholly in Stamford.

"I am honored to have this community's support and to step into this role to serve the residents of the 145th House District," said Rep. Paris. "I am proud to join the Stamford legislative delegation and commit to championing progress every day I serve in the people's House. I look forward to getting to work to move Connecticut forward."

He will serve on the Connecticut General Assembly's Education Committee, Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, and Planning & Development Committee.

Rep. Paris won the April 27 special election for the 145th Assembly District seat, which State Senator Pat Billie Miller represented for 12 years before winning a special election for the 27th state Senate District this March.

Outside of the legislature, Rep. Paris serves as vice-chair of the Mayor's Multicultural Council for the City of Stamford, which he was appointed to in 2016 by Mayor David Martin. He also serves as the director of development for the Children's Learning Centers of Fairfield County. Rep. Paris has considerable leadership experience and has served as president of Connecticut Young Democrats, vice president of Western Connecticut State University's Alumni Association and as a national trainer for Young People For, which is a People For the American Way program.
