REPRESENTATIVE DIGIOVANCARLO SECURES OVER $82,000 IN STATE FUNDS FOR WATERBURY

(HARTFORD, CT) – Today, the Connecticut State Bonding Commission approved the $82,700 bonding request for East Mountain Park. State Representative Michael DiGiovancarlo (D-Waterbury) filed the initial request for grant funding on April 25, 2021 to replace and repair the three water fountains and irrigation system in the park.

The $82,700 grant from this bonding request will fund the two East Mountain Park projects in full.

"Securing these funds for the East Mountain Park projects is great news for the Waterbury Community," said Rep. DiGiovancarlo. "This grant will completely fund the replacement of three water fountains while also making desperate repairs to the park's irrigation system. These improvements will provide safe drinking water and create a healthy recreational environment –enriching the appeal of the site for the community and for local events."

The funds for the East Mountain Park project are one of three grants approved by the State's Bonding Commission today. The other two projects include a new football field and 8-lane track at Wilby High School and a new restroom at Schofield Bunker Hill Park. The total grant-in-aid funding allocated to Waterbury for these projects amounts to $3,432,700.
