Brownfield Remediation Funding

January 31, 2022

The $1.8 million dollars award to the City of Meriden to cleanup brownfields contamination at 289 and 290 Pratt Street. 290 Pratt contains a thriving mixed-use commercial and industrial building that was once home to the New Departure division of General Motors. 289 Pratt has been a vacant parking lot for many years, and the cleanup will pave the way for the owners to develop 92 units of market rate apartment housing with retail opportunities on the site.

A major selling point to any prospective tenant is 289's proximity to The Little Rendezvous pizza restaurant, one of my favorites and a long-time institution in the Silver City. If all goes well the developers are hoping to break ground by the end of the year.
