Moving Connecticut Safely Forward

February 11, 2022
Yesterday, we took a measured, reasonable and logical step forward in our state’s transition from reacting to COVID, to living with it (click here for the CT Mirror Article)

I was pleased to lead the floor debate in the House as we approved a handful of measures designed to keep our most vulnerable safe, reduce burdens on our health care workers and ensure our ability to respond to the ever changing nature of COVID (click here for a clip of my remarks).

And yes, we are returning to our local boards of education the power to decide whether or not to require our children to wear masks in schools.  Those local officials in each town will make that decision based on science, data and guidance provided by the Department of Public Health.

While we also preserved the Department’s ability to reinstitute a statewide mask requirement in schools, should conditions warrant, I know all of us believe, hope and pray that will not be necessary again.

The path to normalcy for all of us has been long and difficult, but rest assured we are on it.
