Another Victory for Hamden

May 6, 2022

Some other good news for Hamden this session – the passage of SB 488, An Act Amending A Conveyance Of State Land To The Town Of Hamden.

This legislation specifically amended a prior authorization and extends the deadline for the town to purchase the former DCF High Meadows property, on Hartford Turnpike, by one year – through June 30, 2023 – if the town decides to do so. This 50 acres of prime real estate – which has not been used by the state in over 10 years – has a lot of potential as open space, or for economic development and building the town’s grand list.

This is in addition to the $43,884,584 in total state aid to the town for Fiscal Year (FY) 23 in the form of grants like $32,936,617 in Education Cost Sharing (ECS) and $669,372 in Town Aid Road, or State Bonding (for which we’ve had success in providing more than $8.6 million for the funding a new Fire Station 2 Emergency Operations Center and $1.35 million for renovations to the Keefe Center this year). It was a good session overall for Hamden!
