Shape Bridgeport's Search for the Next Chief of Police

October 5, 2022

The City of Bridgeport is making progress in its search for the next Chief of Police. As the process moves forward, I encourage you to make your voice heard.

There will be several opportunities for residents and community stakeholders to learn more about the city's top 3 candidates and ask them questions.

There will be two public forums for residents to ask the candidates questions directly. Attendees will be able to attend the forums in person or stream them via Facebook Live.

The mayor will also call a special meeting of the City Council to interview the three candidates in the City Council Chamber. While the public may attend the special meeting, only council members will be permitted to ask questions.

There will also be a meeting to give city leaders and the Bridgeport Legislative Delegation an opportunity to interview the candidates.

The mayor will interview the top 3 candidates and will announce his decision by mid-November.

In addition to the community forums and meetings, elected officials and the public may provide feedback on the candidates by emailing policechiefsearch@bridgeportct.gov. Feedback can also be submitted in writing to the following address:

Office of the Mayor
999 Broad Street
Bridgeport, CT 06604

Comments will be accepted until October 28, 2022.
