Dear Neighbor,

As you know, the work of a legislator does not stop when session ends. Throughout the year, I spend most of my week attending meetings and advocating for legislation that will positively impact the 57th district.

Below is just a highlight of some of the items I've been working on for you this week.

Elder Justice Forum

Alongside, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, Director of East Windsor Recreation & Community Services Melissa Maltese, and Social Worker Rebecca Stack, I will be holding an Elder Justice Forum this evening at 5:30PM at Ellington Senior Center. I hope to see you there!

Child Passenger Safety Week

The Connecticut State Police is reminding residents that September 18-24 is Child Passenger Safety Week. Appropriately installed and fastened car seats and seat belts save lives! Look at the tips above and make sure you understand CT's laws when placing your child in a vehicle.

Ellington's First Farm Day

It may be farm day in my mind every day, but on Saturday it was great to take part in Ellington's first Farm Day! It was so much fun visiting Dzen Garden Market, the Rothes, and the Mosers!

Ellington Student Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

I'd like to extend a huge congratulations to Ankit Roy – an Ellington High School student who joins over 16,000 students nationwide named semifinalists in the 68th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Ankit and the other semifinalists will continue to compete for 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million.

Water Challenges in East Windsor Neighborhood

I had the privilege of joining State Senator Saud Anwar and First Selectman Jason Bowsza to tour an East Windsor neighborhood and speak with residents about some of the water challenges they are facing. It was great to talk one-on-one with our neighbors about those concerns and share what we are doing to address the issue.

The East Windsor Arts & Culture Committee partnered with RiseUP for Arts and the Connecticut Trolley Museum to create an “Instagrammable” worthy mural in front of the Trolley Museum (58 North Road). Save the date – the mural will be unveiled and have its official dedication on Saturday, October 15 at 10 AM during the Museum’s Pumpkin Patch event. Get more information by clicking here.
