Dear Neighbor,

We are saddened by the passing of State Representative Quentin "Q" Williams - a great friend and a truly cool brother. Q had a smile from ear to ear that lit up the room. I am grateful to God for having had the opportunity to grow, learn and become friends with the great person he was.

Q was a staunch supporter of working together to make change for those who depended on us, such a true leader that he was one of 19 leaders across the country to be known as an "Exceptional Leader" by leadership in Washington DC.

I'll be forever grateful for Q and the help he gave me to get started in the legislature. He was there to knock doors prior to me being elected and share his knowledge to help me get situated as I entered the House Chamber.

It's been a great honor to know Q, I will miss him greatly. My condolences to the Williams family - we can't thank you enough for allowing him to be a vessel to do the amazing things he's done.

Wishing You a Happy Three Kings Day

Wishing friends, family and neighbors a Happy Three Kings Day. At the end of the Twelve Days of Christmas comes a day called the Epiphany, or Three Kings Day. This holiday is celebrated as the day the three wise men first saw baby Jesus and brought him gifts. On this day many children celebrate and get their Christmas presents.

Shout it Out for 6 New London Musicians Selected for the Eastern Region Middle School Music Festival!

Big "Shout It Out" to 6 of our musicians from BDJMMMSC that worked hard over the last several months to prepare their rigorous audition material, then auditioned for the Connecticut Music Educators' Association (CMEA) at the Eastern Region Middle School Music Festival.

They did this along with hundreds of students from over 40 middle schools in eastern Connecticut.

I am super happy and pleased to announce that ALL SIX STUDENTS were selected for the Eastern Region Music Festival, which takes place over two days in March. Please help me thank them for proudly representing the City of New London!

Check It Out: Museum Association Releases Renderings of National Coast Guard Museum

This week, the Museum Association shared its recent architectural rendering of the National Coast Guard Museum atrium. The soaring five-story space will make for a dramatic welcome, and it’s sure to create lasting memories for all visitors. A full-sized HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter will be suspended from the ceiling. Beneath the helicopter, a rescue swimmer in action will be displayed.

Another unique feature within the atrium are the large street level windows capable of lifting to form open air access between City Pier Plaza and the interior. The wall of philanthropy is located at the top of the stairs and will be immediately adjacent to the doors of the Quarterdeck, where the Coast Guard journey begins.
