Learn About the Plan to Remove an Off-Ramp on I-84 East

March 15, 2023

You are invited to attend an informational meeting about a project to remove the Exit 21 off-ramp on I-84 Eastbound in Waterbury. The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will be speaking to the community on Thursday, March 23.

Organizers will deliver a presentation going over the details of the project. Those in attendance will learn about the benefits, environmental effects, and timeline. CTDOT officials will also take and answer your questions, which will help shape the project.

The goal is to improve safety, traffic flow, and air quality on I-84 East around Exits 19-22.  In addition to removing the Exit 21 off-ramp, crews would extend an auxiliary lane to allow drivers more time to merge and get off I-84 East near Exit 22.

You have until Monday, April 10 to comment on the project. Click here to provide any ideas to improve Waterbury’s I-84/Route 8 interchange, call (203) 805-8018, send an email, or send a letter to New Mix Project CEPA comments, Attn: Jonathan Dean, Project Manager, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, PO Box 317546, Newington, CT 06131.
