Celebrating Puerto Rican Culture

May 1, 2023

As a State Representative, who is Puerto Rican and serves Hartford as well as West Hartford, I was honored to be part of the unveiling of the Puerto Rican parades and festivals at the Legislative Office Building.

I was proud to host advocates from the Connecticut Institute for Community Development (CICD) -Puerto Rican Parade Committee. It’s a nonprofit that was founded in 1958 dedicated to leadership, cultural preservation, and community service.

There will be many opportunities this summer to get exposed to our rich and diverse culture. I applaud our great state for continuing to showcase our heritage. The Puerto Rican Parade in Hartford will be held on September 10th. CLICK HERE to learn more about the history of the parade.

Puerto Ricans have contributed to our country from fighting in World War One, manufacturing, excelling in science, becoming judges, to producing mainstream music and dances that we know and love today. By learning more about Puerto Rican culture, people can gain a better understanding and appreciation of the contributions made by Puerto Ricans. We’re dedicated to honoring the past and embracing the future with our cultural legacy.
