Remembering Reverend Tommie Jackson

July 28, 2023

This has been a sad week for the City of Stamford. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Reverend Tommie Jackson. Reverend Jackson died unexpectedly on Wednesday in an accident with a Stamford police cruiser.

While the incident is under investigation by the Connecticut State Police, I want to take a minute to remember Reverend Jackson. He was a remarkable community activist and faith leader. His dedication to the faith community and public service contributions, including serving as the assistant director of the Stamford Urban Redevelopment Commission, will be deeply missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift. As a social justice leader and respected clergy member, he touched countless lives with his compassion and dedication.

The loss of Reverend Jackson leaves a big hole in the heart of this community. My deepest condolences to his wife Dorye, his children, his extended family, friends, parishioners, and anyone whose life he touched. Stamford mourns with you.

There will be a vigil tonight at 7 p.m. at the Stamford Government Center to remember Reverend Jackson. Let's come together to celebrate his legacy and continue his impactful work.

Please consider attending a vigil to honor the memory and legacy of Reverand Tommie Jackson, planned for July 28 at 7 p.m., Stamford Government Center
