Dear Neighbor,
International Overdose Awareness Day Event
I had the great opportunity last week to attend the International Overdose awareness day event in the City of New London, Connecticut. Friends, families, and community leaders gathered to remember those lost, those struggling, and those who fight on. Thank you to everyone that continues to fight the good fight, working so hard to share awareness and support those in need.

Mitchell College Convocation
Last week I was honored to be a guest speaker at the Mitchell College Convacation. I briefly touched on the accomplishments and achievements of students to get into into Higher Education.
I informed students of the power they hold within to make a positive impact on this world, how the New London community has a open door and wealth of experiences and connections that can enrich their college years and shape the person they become by networking with after school programs, organizations and business throughout the City of New London, Connecticut.

Enhancing Mental Health Treatment
I was able to sit down with some amazing professionals at the City of New London, Connecticut Community Health Center.
Big thank you to Chief Psychiatry Officer Dr. Tichianaa Armah, Congressman Joe Courtney, CHC Regional VP Yvette Highsmith Francis, U.S. Department of Labor Employee Benefits Security Administration Assistant Secretary Lisa Gomez - NAMI Policy Manager Thomas Burr, Mike Finley and Luis Perez of Mental Health Connecticut/CT Parity Coalition and group members for joining us and sharing their expertise and perspectives.

Eastern CT Chamber of Commerce Innovation/Co-Working Center Launch
The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT is launching its Innovation/Co-Working Center this month, a space the organization says will provide startups and other businesses with administrative support and office space in New London.
The chamber’s Innovation/Co-Working Center, located in the same building as its headquarters at 92 Eugene O’Neill Drive, New London, is ready for occupancy, with nine office spaces available for rent in addition to collaborative workstations and desks. A single desk office for one person costs $750 a month, a double costs $950, and a space for up to three people costs $1,250 a month, according to information from the chamber.
In addition to office space, chamber officials said the new center will serve as an incubator space for startups in need of resources. That includes the Entrepreneur Academy, an 8-week program aimed to help entrepreneurs move from idea to profitable business.
The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT plans to also host other programs and regional events at the center in the future, officials said. The center also has a kitchen, private wellness room, two conference rooms, a large outdoor patio, free on-site parking and electric vehicle charging stations.
