Dear Neighbor,
High-Dosage Tutoring Funding for New London
Great news for our schools: $540,000 is going to the New London school district and $543,123 for the Groton School District to build and expand high-dosage tutoring through the Connecticut High-Dosage Tutoring Program. An estimated 432 students in New London will be served by these funds, which target students in grade 6-9 with a focus on enhancing mathematics
The investment in mathematics come as data from the State Department of Education shows that despite improvements, mathematics proficiency is still below pre-pandemic performance levels.

Funding for our schools is always a win, especially for a cause like the High-Dosage Tutoring Program. The pandemic took a significant toll on our students, and it is our responsibility to do everything we can to help them, including enhanced tutoring, funding for mental health, and so much more. Thank you to Governor Lamont and Commissioner Russell-Tucker for recognizing this critical need and helping the students of New London.

Cooking Class for New London Students
Great to see City of New London, Connecticut New London Public Schools students shining.
New London ― Months of kitchen instruction, from basic knifework to advanced food preparation, was condensed into 90 intense minutes inside the New London Multi-Magnet High School’s Whaler Café on Thursday.
For that hour-and-a-half, the stainless steel kitchen grill, salad and dessert stations served as a proving ground for 15 young culinary students ladling up portions of house-made penne with roasted red pepper coulis alongside bowls of zuppa Toscana and slices of apple strudel a la mode to a discerning group of patrons ― district staffers.
The special lunch service was one of several such food events hosted each school year by students enrolled in an International Education Pathway program that seasons its curriculum with a healthy dash of culture.
