| It's been at the Capitol as committee meetings and public hearings continue. My colleagues and I were back in session last week, where we voted on $40 million in Special Education Funding, grants for nonprofits, the 2025-2030 Conservation and Development Plan and Judicial and Executive nominations. I am always committed to working for and serving the residents of New Britain and communities across Connecticut.
One thing that improves our work is when we get feedback from you. If you are a resident of New Britain's 26th District, please take a moment to complete my brief survey online below.

| ICYMI: March New Britain Community Forum | | |
|

| Last week, members of the New Britain delegation, city officials, and I held a community forum. This was a great opportunity to speak with community members about what matters to them and our priorities for this session as your legislators. We heard a number of concerns about traffic issues around the Brittany Farms neighborhood, as well as increased speeding on Farmington Ave.
This issue is a major concern for my colleagues and me, and we are actively exploring ways to improve the traffic conditions in the Brittany Farms area. Further down in this email, you will find information on what we are currently doing to address this issue.

If you weren't able to attend and would like to share your thoughts, feel free to email me or reach out to my office directly at 860-240-8585. This is a great way for you to be involved in the legislative process, and I look forward to continuing to host community meetings with my colleagues over the next few months.

| Local Traffic Issue: Brittany Farms Neighborhood | | |
|

| The traffic issues in the Brittany Farms neighborhood of New Britain have been a concern of residents in the area for some time, and I recently had the opportunity to testify at a Transportation Committee public hearing about these concerns. The area surrounding the Brittany Farms neighborhood continues to be developed while no changes have been made to the existing traffic problems.
I am urging the Department of Transportation to complete a traffic study of this area to help find solutions. In the meantime, I hope we can implement temporary changes and that development in the area slows until steps are taken to address residents' concerns.

| Special Education Funding | | |
|

| Last week, I was proud to vote for a bill allocating $40 million in funding to special education, giving immediate support to more than 140 school districts in our state and helping to provide the highest quality education for our students. New Britain schools will receive $1.8 million of this funding.
These critical resources will help ensure students receive the specialized support they need to thrive.

My colleagues and I have heard from cities and towns across Connecticut that special education costs are squeezing local budgets. Students and families are dealing with the repercussions of a broken system, and while the legislature considers long-term solutions for our special education system, we recognized our school districts needed immediate relief.

Our ultimate goal is to achieve systemic reform to ensure sustainable funding in this arena.

Special education remains a legislative priority for House Democrats this session, and moving forward, we will continue looking for solutions to lower costs, strengthen services, and provide more financial support for our education system to make sure every child has access to the education they deserve.
