Several new laws passed by the Connecticut General Assembly during the 2026 legislative session will take effect on Thursday, October 1st. Below is a brief overview of some of these important changes.

This Thursday, September 17th, New Britain Officials will hold a community project update for the Allen Street project from 4 to 5 p.m. at City Hall, Room 201. All residents and community members are encouraged to attend. We will discuss the current status of the project and the next steps.

Exciting news for New Britain! Last week, I joined Mayor Bobby Sanchez, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, and Governor Lamont to announce a $14.7 million federal USDOT Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant for New Britain. 

Several new laws that we passed during the 2026 legislative session will take effect next week, on July 1st, bringing important changes for Connecticut residents.

Great news for New Britain! I am thrilled to share that the State Bond Commission approved an additional $5 million in funding for the drainage and flood mitigation project on Allen Street. This investment is a major win for Allen Street residents and the New Britain community as a whole.

I want to invite you all to the 35th Annual Polish Day Celebration at the State Capitol. This year's celebration will take place on Thursday, April 30th, starting at 10 a.m. on the North Steps of the State Capitol. I am proud to co-host this event alongside Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz for the second year in a row.

The Connecticut General Assembly's legislative session is in full swing. As your State and Local leaders, we want to hear from you about the issues impacting the community and discuss ways we can work together to support New Britain.

It has been a very busy and productive week at the Capitol, with many of the committees holding public hearings on crucial bills, listening to testimony from hundreds of advocates, professionals, and residents on proposed bills. Many committees have begun holding meetings to debate which bills will continue moving through the legislative process and on to the House and Senate Floors.
