I recently had the great opportunity to meet up with Christy Kovel, State Representative Jane Garibay , State Representative Dan Gaiewski friends, neighbors and families to support Alzheimer's walk at Ocean Beach New London, CT.
This year legislators passed an important bill (Connecticut's 2025 Public Act 25-16, also known as HB 6771) to help with Alzheimer's by requiring health insurance coverage for biomarker testing, to improve early diagnosis and access to care for those with Alzheimer's and other neurological conditions, with biomarker coverage.
It was such a beautiful day to see the great turnout and walk down on the Ocean Beach Park City of New London, Connecticut. Thank you for the great team that helped this event come to fruition. |

Military Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Day This Tuesday was Military Suicide Awareness and Remembrance Day in Connecticut. As a veteran, this is not just an issue I’ve read about or seen in statistics. I know family and friends who have struggled, and I’ve walked alongside those who have attempted to end their own lives. That’s a reality far too many of us in the military community carry—and it’s why we can’t afford silence.
I was proud to join my colleagues to bring attention to this matter and to honor the far too many vets we have lost to suicide. We must always remember and honor their contributions and sacrifice, and never make them feel like a burden.

Connecticut-Puerto Rico Trade Commission Did you know Connecticut is home to one of the largest Puerto Rican populations per capita in the continental U.S.? The newly established Connecticut–Puerto Rico Trade Commission is a powerful milestone that will identify trade opportunities, strengthen supply chains, and support Puerto Rican-owned businesses both on the island and here in Connecticut. I’m proud to stand with our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters in advancing equity and opportunity, because Hispanic Heritage Month isn’t just about celebrating history—it’s about building the future. |

Uplifting Hispanic Culture in New London Schools I was proud to see my good friend Efrain Dominguez Jr. highlighted on NBC CT 30 for his work uplifting Hispanic culture in New London Public Schools. For 28 years, Efrain has been a dedicated teacher in New London Public Schools, shaping and inspiring generations of students. On top of that, he serves as our City of New London, Connecticut Council President, leading with heart and commitment to the people of New London. That balance of teaching in the classroom and serving in public office is no small task—it’s a reflection of his love for this community.
I also had the honor of serving several terms on City Council with Efrain, so I’ve seen firsthand his leadership, his dedication, and his deep care for our city and its people. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, I can’t think of a better example of leadership and service. Efrain, thank you for being a friend, a colleague, and a role model—for the students, for the city, and for all of us who have had the honor of working alongside you. Keep shining, brother—we’re proud of you. |

Mujeres Entre Culturas Event
Thank you to Amparo Bustamante, the ladies of Mujeres Entre Culturas, and the speakers for the incredible stories, strength, and inspiration you shared at your event last week. I was deeply moved hearing about the struggles, accomplishments, and successes — how you overcame obstacles and pushed through trials to achieve so much. This event reminded us all that together, we are a powerful and unstoppable force in our community. This was a beautiful evening of testimony and believing you can while having amazing faith.
