Equal Pay Day March 25 was how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. Equal Pay Day is a reminder of the ongoing fight for gender equality in the workplace.
In Connecticut, we’re making strides with legislation like the Pay Equity and Opportunity Act, which strengthens pay transparency, prohibits salary history inquiries, and ensures fair pay for all workers, regardless of gender. Together, we’re working toward a future where EQUAL WORK means EQUAL PAY for everyone

Defending Our Education Funds This week, we stood with Congresswoman Jahana Hayes to oppose harmful cuts to education that threaten our students, teachers, and public schools. Slashing funding for education is a direct attack on opportunity, equity, and the future of our communities. We remain committed to fighting for strong investments in our schools, ensuring every child has access to quality education, and standing up for educators who dedicate their lives to shaping the next generation. |

Rollin' with Rep. Nolan - Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Commissioner Nancy Navarretta
DMHAS provides direct services to residents through hospitals, community-based services, prevention through wellness and health promotion, and much more.
I was struck by how DMHAS targets their services to the specialized needs of each population instead of a one-size-fits-all style - it shows they truly care about the communities they are helping.
Far too often we see people suffering from mental health and substance use issues simultaneously, and I am proud to see a great organization like DMHAS tackling these issues head-on.
To access care, you can call 2-1-1 or 9-8-8 or visit wearect.org.
Thank you to Nancy for joining the show!

Standing with Our State Employees Today, I stood with our dedicated state employees—many from the Department of Corrections—against SB 24, a bill that would prevent overtime from being factored into their retirement calculations. This change would have devastating consequences for those who have spent a lifetime serving our state, often working mandatory and exhausting shifts. They’ve earned their pensions, and they deserve fair compensation for their service. I cannot and will not support this bill. |

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony Today we had the honor of being at the CT Department of Veterans Affairs Good Star Auditorium for the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony. It was an amazing event recognizing Vietnam Veterans for their service and continued community engagement. This is something definitely needed to let them know how much we appreciate and have love for them - especially for the sacrifices they made for us that continue allowing us to have, be and do what we do today.
Thank you to Commissioner Whelch, and all the volunteers and Staff that made this such a great success.
