Dear Neighbor,

Meeting with SEIU District 1199 New England
Thank you to SEIU District 1199 New England for coming to the Legislative Office Building this month advocating for yourselves, collegues and nieghbors. It is great to stand by you and help support you and the need for livable wages & benifits. Keep up the good fight & good work. Thank you also for the 1199 Mail cards. Great hearing from you.

JJPOC Meeting
This past week we had a great Juvenile Justice Policy Oversight (JJPOC) meeting where we had guest speakers talk about HB 1243 - An Act Concerning Free Bus Transportation for High School Students and Veterans.

Thank you to Tow Youth Justice Institute and all our speakers for a great informative meeting.

Rollin' with Rep. Nolan - Partnership for Strong Communities
On this week's Rollin' with Rep. Nolan, I was joined by Chelsea Ross, executive director of the Partnership for Strong Communities, a statewide nonprofit that works on affordable housing issues.

A key priority for the organization this year is the Rental Assistance Program (RAP), a state-funded program.

The RAP program helps low-income residents, families, seniors, and people with disabilities afford their rent in the private market, but right now the need for the program heavily outweighs what the program serves.

Along with rental assistance, the Partnership for Strong Communities is also focusing on creating more housing, just-cause evictions, and more.
I loved talking with Chelsea about the great causes her organization is advocating for at the Capitol, and I appreciate her joining the show!

Tour of Camp Nett
Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to tour Camp Nett in Niantic alongside fellow legislators. Lieutenant Colonel Jakubson and his outstanding team walked us through the facility, sharing insights into the modern-day missions of both the Army and Air National Guard. From advanced training operations to the ongoing challenges faced by Guard members, it was an eye-opening experience that deepened our appreciation for their service and commitment.

Work Zone Awareness Week
Work Zone Awareness Week isn’t just a reminder to slow down - it’s a call to recognize the real people behind every reflective vest. Let’s drive like their lives depend on it… because they do.

Please join me in thanking those who put their lives on the line every day to keep our roads safe, and remembering those we’ve tragically lost in work zone accidents. Their dedication deserves our respect, and their safety requires our attention. Please, slow down, stay alert, and move over in work zones.

Boost for the Time to Own Program
Exciting boost for future homeowners — especially in Connecticut’s distressed municipalities!

The State Bond Commission has just approved $35 million for the Time To Own (TTO) Program, creating real pathways to homeownership for more Connecticut residents.

Meeting with DESPP
Last week I had the great opportunity to meet with Senior Advisor Curtis Eller from the Community Outreach and Engagement Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection. We had some great discussion in regards to DESPP Community initiatives.

DESPP events are to engage students and communities across the state, providing insight into the important work happening daily to serve the public and highlighting various career opportunities within the DESPP agency.

The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection has six divisions or main branches. These include the Connecticut State Police, Police Officer Standards and Training Council, Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Fire Prevention and Control, Scientific Services, and Statewide Emergency Communications.

Meeting at "The Place"
We had a great time with the brothers at "The Place." It was great to hear from Dom Griffin and the work he is doing with Child and Family Agency throughout our community, Ken Harris in regards to the importance of Fatherhood and the many responses from everyone on how to make greater impact with youth. Thanks Ruben for keeping the momentum going.
