Beloved Neighbor,

Happy Black History Month!

To celebrate, I want to highlight some of our noteworthy Black History right here in the great state of Connecticut throughout February.

Let's start with my colleague and beloved friend, Representative Treneé McGee, who in 2021, at the age of 27, became the first black woman to represent West Haven's 116th district, and the youngest woman ever elected to serve in the Connecticut General Assembly.

Today, Representative McGee

is the youngest woman serving in the CT House of Representatives. She previously served on the West Haven City Council.

Representative McGee also owns a production company - TDM Production Company.

She wrote, directed, and produced a play set to run at the Shubert Theater in New Haven on May 11th entitled

"Call Forth a Woman", which takes you on a voyage through stories about powerfully dynamic women in the bible who are often forgotten but most notably heroic and significant in the text.
