Dear Neighbor,

Last Saturday, I joined members of the Norwalk Common Council to host Black History Month program at the Bethel AME Church. Thank you to all who attended - I hope you found the experience enriching and informational.

One of my legislative priorities this year is to address homelessness. I am proud to stand with a bipartisan group of legislators asking for additional funding for social programs that combat homelessness in our state. We also want additional funding to ensure that  those who work for social service organizations are paid a livable wage. SB 145, AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE HOMELESS RESPONSE SYSTEM, is a piece of legislation in the Housing Committee that if passed, will allocate the necessary funds.

Our state is filled with various helpful programs, but they can only accomplish so much with their meager funding. Increasing their funding will allow these vital services to expand their reach and provide more help.

The Norwalk Public Library will hold a Chinese New Year celebration next Sunday, March 3. The celebration will feature dance performances by Li Garden Dance Company and the Chinese Education Association (CCEA) Dance Group, as well as stations with Chinese calligraphy, ancient toys and traditional costumes. Lunch will be provided. Click here or the image below to register.

📅 A look at the schedule of public hearings being held this week. Please remember that you only need to register if you wish to provide testimony. If you want to observe the hearings, you can tune in to watch the proceedings live on the committee’s YouTube channel.

🌐 You can register to testify and find more detail on this week’s public hearings, including the bills that will be heard, in this week’s CGA Bulletin. Access the Bulletin here: cga.ct.gov/asp/CGABulletin/Bulletin.asp
If you have questions, or ever need any help please don't hesitate to call me at (800) 842-8267 or email me directly.

Sincerely,

Kadeem Roberts
