Rep. Jason Rojas is warning consumers to be vigilant and closely examine their electricity bills. A recent survey found that more than three-quarters of energy consumers in Connecticut buying third party power paid more than the standard service rate.

This year Connecticut became the first state in the nation to protect residents from electricity providers who offer a low introductory rate that increases rapidly afterwards. I am proud to have been a supporter of this legislation and further confirm that we made the right decision.

Electricity customers have often overpaid and need to be extra vigilant when reviewing their billing statements, especially if they’re purchasing from third-party electricity suppliers.
