NORWICH DEMOCRATS DENOUNCE RACIAL SLURS, THREATS AIMED AT MAYOR SINGH, FAMILY

We want to affirm our full support of Connecticut’s first Sikh Mayor, Swaranjit Singh, and his family, and firmly denounce the racist, derogatory remarks hurled at them in a recent Norwich Bulletin Facebook post.

 We condemn political threats, reject dehumanizing rhetoric and acts of violence in any form. We believe our residents in Norwich feel the same. 

Lastly, and to be clear, the post was not from a Norwich resident. Norwich is an inclusive community, and people of all races and religions are welcome here. Racial slurs and political violence can be viewed as threats to democracy. 

 Here, in our town, this will not be tolerated.
